Months of late night meetings and planning sessions were over as the big day arrived. As was the case with every previous meetings, this evening, Marcus was late. After checking in our backpacks, we proceeded to take a group picture at the same spot we do every time we were at the airport, only with Chun Yang missing this time for he was to be meeting us in Paris.

Our Airfrance flight out was delayed due to a problem with the water pressure in the WCs. It was waiting at the boarding gate that we ran into an old secondary school friend, Kiat Chay, who was En Route (French phrase! How apt!) to Scotland. Small world! (Another unlikely twist to come out of this later!)

Alas, after almost 90 minutes, we were ready to depart. How was Airfrance? The seats were a little cramped, the crew were French (bleh!), drinks and snacks were self-service in the galley, and the flight was 14 hours (argh, kill me!). But in all, I would say it was... alright.
