Only day 5, and we were feeling slightly burnt out already. We decided to sleep in for the day, as our only plans for the day was a Third Reich walking tour.

Here is a picture of our dorm room. As you can see in the top right hand corner, Daryl is still sound asleep. Apparently, he’s the smartest cause he always lets everyone else wake up first and use the bathroom first so he can catch a few more winks of sleep.

After chilling in the hostel reception, chit chatting and using a little bit of the internet, our Third Reich tour started at 1pm, and on the same tour as us was a group from Singapore! Our guide was a big friend chap by the name of Preston, and I personally thinks he walks too fast, faster than he thinks he does, because his strides are just too big!

The tour was fairly informative, again, really interesting if you were into history and the Nazis. We visited several important sites such as the following:

Block der Frauen

The Brandenburg Gate

Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

Reichstag Building

Berlin Wall

Hours later and the tour ended. Jaded, we grabbed dinner at a food court where we all ended up buying Chinese food from a weird Chinese guy with a curly moustache. No kidding, his moustache was like Luigi’s from the Simpsons. It was unreal. But I digress… this detail… is of no importance…

On our way back to the hostel, we ran into the same Singaporean group again. We found out that they were students studying in the UK, and one was Hak Liang’s senior from TJ, and he also recognized Marcus as they had played football together before. Small world!

Back at the hostel, we wasted our time away again, catching a nap, using the internet, and for some, playing the Nintendo Wii at the hostel’s bar. Before long, it was time to leave for the train station.

As will be a recurring feature on this trip, we paid McDonalds’ a visit, where we had some ice cream before we caught our train to Munich.

On the trains, we got ourselves couchettes (sleepers), so we had a comfortable sleep that night.
